Inquisition
The Spaniards came to the New World seeking riches and to spread the Christian faith. Assuming the natives as only simple minded people, the Spanish forced Catholicism upon them, while the natives simply viewed the white man as Gods. The introduction of metal, disease, and live stock brought by the Spanish would have an over all greater impact on the native's lives, with 90 percent of their population taken out by 1590. As the culture died off and the Spanish took over, they enforced the encomienda system to enslave and modernize the western society.
